Adding Dotted Lines to Forms

This ITip is aimed at those producing some sort of form in Word. It explains how to use tab stops to put ...'s next to a field name in a way that the edges line up throughout the form.

  1. keyboard icon Type in the field name (e.g. Name).
  2. mouse icon Click in the horizontal ruler (found above the document) to place a tab stop in the desired position.
  3. mouse icon Double click on the tab stop that you added to reveal the Tabs dialogue.
  4. Select a Leader from the given options.
  5. Select OK to close the dialogue.
  6. keyboard icon Press [Tab] to add the selected leader characters.
